Cindy McGarvie , author of 'Lost Boys', addressed Church and state about the roles of women by symbolically comparing and contrasting Wendy and Tinkerbell from the children’s story ‘Peter Pan. Wendy signifies a woman who embraces her feminine traits and the mission of nurturing her family, while Tinkerbell is depicted as a woman who prefers to consider her own needs and ambitions, and who rejects ‘traditional’ roles. The church, sadly, has followed the world’s pattern in encouraging young women to seek self-fulfilment through career, rather than dedicating themselves to home and family. It is an area where reformation is sorely needed as Christian families suffer from the consequences of rejecting God’s perfect plan for Biblical manhood and womanhood.
