Speaking to #Churchandstate on the topic of 'Searching for common ground with secularists', Dr John Fleming believes that the universality and commonality of agreed moral values provide ever-present possibilities for dialogue between Christians and secularists. Fundamental human values, such as those enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, can be a way of lobbying politicians to take a stand against violations of these values by practises such as abortion and euthanasia. Even for those who don't subscribe to Biblical values, highlighting that our nation subscribes in principle, to such declarations, can be a way of influencing policy in the right direction.
